Location and Boundary
View Royal is a district municipality in British Columbia, Canada, situated on southern Vancouver Island. It shares its western border with Colwood to the north, Metchosin to the west, Sooke to the south, and Esquimalt to the east across the Songhees First Nation colwoodvictoriacasino.ca land reserve.
Geography
The terrain of View Royal is varied, consisting mainly of a mix of low hills, bluffs, and valleys. It occupies an area of approximately 12.93 square kilometers (4.99 sq mi) above sea level, with the highest point being approximately 160 meters (525 ft) at Mount Tolmie’s summit.
Climate
The climate in View Royal is classified as temperate marine west coast. It experiences a relatively dry and cool climate year-round due to its coastal location. The average temperature ranges between -1°C (30°F) during the winter months and 18°C (64°F) during summer, with precipitation spread throughout the year.

A portion of View Royal lies within the watershed area draining into Sooke Potholes Regional Park. The region is also home to several streams and water bodies including Metchosin Creek which runs along its western border, and several smaller tributaries feeding it.

The residents are predominantly urban dwellers residing within the municipal boundary. According to Canadian Census data from 2016, about 43% of the population is under the age of 19.
